SAA-C01 Exam Expiration Extension to June 30, 2020
Below is the official update from AWS on the expiration of the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate SAA-C01 exam which can be found on the AWS website here:
“A new version of the AWS Certified Solutions Architect — Associate exam (SAA-C02) will be available to take on and after March 23, 2020. The previous version of the AWS Certified Solutions Architect — Associate exam (SAA-C01) will also be available through June 30, 2020.”
This is a welcome relief for those who missed the final weeks of the exam and it looked like they would be forced to take the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate (SAA-C02) exam. The active date for the SAA-C02 will still be March 23rd so those who are studying for the new version of the exam can continue to do so.
When booking your exam on the certmetrics.com website the expiration for the SAA-C01 now shows as being 30th June 2020:
TEST CENTER CLOSURES
With the Coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading quickly around the world many Pearson Vue and Prometric test centers have been forced to close over recent weeks. In fact, both of these companies have closed all test centers across the United States from this week (see below for more details). For those of you who were planning on taking the SAA-C01 exam before it was due to expire on March 22nd 2020 and be replaced by the SAA-C02 exam, this has been particularly frustrating so you’ll be very pleased with this announcement.

If you’re looking to take your AWS certification exam over the coming weeks you might want to check out the following links regarding test center closures. As mentioned before, for the United States both PSI and Pearson Vue have closed all test centers from this week. There are also closures of test centers around the world and these links provide the current status:

It could take a while for the effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) on businesses to pass so, unfortunately, it may be difficult to find test centers in the coming weeks. Please keep an eye on the status of the test centers in the links above and I’ll post again when I hear more myself.

In terms of our study resources for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification, our materials from digital cloud training cover both the SAA-C01 and SAA-C02 exams. We have added new videos to our video-based hands-on training course and there are new practice questions covering SAA-C02 topics in our practice test course. We are keeping the SAA-C02 practice questions separate for now until closer to the cutover date from the SAA-C01 so students can study for either examination.
